Refilling is essentially source reduction. Reusing your containers keeps plastic out of the system. Recycling is great but the market for recycled plastic can’t keep up with our single use of plastic. Without market demand for recycled plastic products, there is no use for the plastic you’ve thrown in the blue bin. In this case, the plastic just becomes collected not recycled. Collected plastic ends up in the landfill.
Don’t think for a second refilling doesn’t make a dent! In 2011, Green11’s sales of 3 products: Laundry, Dish and Hand Soap accounted for 5.5 Tons of Plastic saved. That’s nearly 11,000 pounds of plastic. It makes a difference!
Quite a few advantages! First, refilling allows you to actually REALLY try something without any big commitments. Buy a few ounces, go home and try it, come back to refill over and over again. You also save a little bit of money
We love it when you bring in your own container and this our preference. We especially love it when customers get creative. We’ve seen wine bottles used as dish soap, yogurt containers used to purchase dish powder and mason glass jars for conditioners and heavy crèmes! But if you really don’t have any, you can browse our awesome collection of glass, aluminum and plastic offerings! We have bottles, jars, even tin can!
We feel that if we offer free containers, people would continue to come back and just get another free container thereby undermining our efforts to change consumer behavior. To date, it is amazing the number of containers Green11 sells on a daily basis
NO! That’s the beauty of refilling! With refilling you can REALLY try something without any big commitments. Buy just a few ounces, go home and try it, come back to refill over and over again.
